Delhi police have arrested a 27 -year -old woman, who has been on the run for four years, in a kidnapping and murder case, officials said on Sunday.
Nidhi, a man declared an offender, was arrested from his home country of Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh, they said.
He was one of the accused in the kidnapping and murder case of a man named Sagar in 2015. After getting bail in 2018, he disappeared and was declared an offender the following year, police said.
On Saturday, based on information about Nidhi, police detained him from near a cafe; at Govindpuram in Ghaziabad, said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) Jasmeet Singh.
According to police, nine people, including Nidhi and her husband Rahul Jaat, had abducted Sagar on April 1, 2015, from the GTB Enclave area of Delhi, took him to Baghpat in Uttar Pradesh and then knocked him down with a truck and killed him.
The alleged murder was made to look like an accident, police said.
Explaining the motive behind the murder, they said Nidhi and Rahul were against Sagar’s friendship with Aarti, Nidhi’s sister. Despite their warnings, she still met him even after her marriage.
This infuriated them and they decided to kill Sagar, police said.
Rahul has also been released on bail. He was part of the famous Rohit Chaudhary and Ankit Gurjar group.
Rahul was previously involved in three cases of murder, attempted murder and kidnapping for murder, and was previously charged under the Firearms Act in Delhi, police said.
