Kalimedu:
At least eleven people were electrocuted during a horse-drawn carriage parade at a temple in Tamil Nadu’s Thanjavur district early this morning, police said.
Police said the incident happened when the temple stretcher they were standing on came in contact with a high transmission line at the Appar temple in Kalimedu.
“The temple stretcher faced several obstacles while taking turns when it came in contact with the overhead line,” officials said.
Two of those killed were children, officials said, adding that three people with severe burn injuries had been admitted to Thanjavur Medical College for treatment.
