Delhi today recorded 1,367 new Covid cases, up 13 per cent from yesterday’s total (1,204), and one death while the positivity rate stood at 4.50 per cent, according to data shared by the city’s health department.
It is the sixth consecutive day the capital has recorded more than 1,000 new cases in a day.
Ealier today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in a virtual meeting with the Chief Minister, stressed the implementation of ‘test, trace and treat’ with the same effectiveness as was done during the previous Covid wave in the country.
Speaking on the increase in Covid cases in the country in recent days, PM Modi reminded the states to always be vigilant on the matter.
“It is clear that the COVID challenge is not fully over. Omicron and its subvarians can pose problems as has been proven in the case of many European countries. Subvarians have caused many surges in many countries. India has been able to handle the situation better than many countries. However, in two weeks then, the increase in cases in some states shows that we need to remain vigilant, “said PM Modi.
The total number of infections in the capital was 18,78,458 and the number of deaths reached 26,170, the bulletin said.
Delhi had reported 1,204 new cases of COVID-19 and one death on Tuesday, while the positive rate stood at 4.64 per cent.
